EMBO have launched the EMBO New Venture Fellowships in memory of Suzanne Eaton. These fellowships will help early career life scientists explore topics outside their current area to allow them to pursue a new research direction in their future work. Applications are accepted as of today:
The goal of the EMBO New Venture Fellowship is to support early career scientists, in any field of life science research, who would use this opportunity to enter a new field or bring a new direction to their research efforts. These are career development fellowships with the intention to support excellent candidates to explore feasible projects, generating the preliminary data to help transform their research trajectory.
Read the full eligibility criteria and benefits, and apply here.
The fellowships are in memory of Suzanne Eaton, an internationally acclaimed scientist, known for her contribution to cell signalling, tissue mechanics and, more recently, regulation of metabolism during development, and mathematical modelling. She was actively engaged in multi-disciplinary research and encouraged others to overcome the challenges of entering a new field for the benefit of intellectual and scientific advancement.
With the desire of many to honour Suzanne as a scientist, mentor, and friend, a fund was established. Donations to the Suzanne Eaton Memorial Fund continue to be gratefully accepted at www.betterplace.org/en/projects/71780-suzanne-eaton-fund.
